Showcooking at Boqueria Market for Barcelona’s expat community with Ralda+Friends Olive Oil!

On December 14, the closing activity of the Barcelona International Welcome took place in the popular Boquería Market. It was a live show cooking with chef Joe Woodward teaching all the attendees how to prepare an innovative menu, based on traditional dishes of the Catalan culture.

The Barcelona International Welcome is an annual program of activities promoted by the Barcelona City Council: Information sessions, networking, seminars and conferences, city tours, courses, workshops are a full range of events organized especially for the Barcelona’s international community to help them to obtain information and resources, make new contacts and discover the city and its cultural offers.

In his show, Woodward created a menu consisting of a starter, a main course, and a dessert using seasonal and local ingredients, and bringing together local and international aromas and flavors. More specifically, wonderful cannelloni stuffed with quince, pear and endive, were followed by a quick escudella (a Catalan stew made out with chicken, meatballs and legumes) and the easy, but delicious, pa amb oli, xocolata i sal (a slice of bread with oil, and a pinch of salt and a bit of chocolate). The oils from Godall, and specifically, a few drops of Ralda & Friends’ did not miss the appointment.

Joe Woodward is an English teacher who has lived in Barcelona since 1997. A few years ago, he decided to combine his work with his passion for cooking. He is the creator of the Delicious English academy and offers all kinds of cooking courses and workshops in English for people with voracious minds and stomachs.

This 2021, Barcelona has been the World Sustainable Food Capital and for this reason the Barcelona International Welcome wanted to celebrate its last activity of the year in one of the most emblematic gastronomic spaces of the city the Boqueria market.

As the aim of the event was to bring together people from different cultures and sitting them in a table with sustainable and proximity food products, we are very happy to contribute our bit by offering our olive oil to make possible this activity.

Happy New Year!
