Ralda+Friends’ Serendipity
Our Friends and Adopters may already know what is serendipity. Dictionary says it is an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident. An example: in 1928, Dr. Alexander Fleming was working on the Flu vaccine when he noticed that by accident a kind of fungus had eradicated the “staphylococcus” bacteria from a laboratory tile. Fleming discovered the Penicillin without searching for it however it saved millions of lives around the world.
In Ralda+Friends something similar happened this Winter. As a result of our promotional campaign of the “Terres del Ebre” Pack, many media were interested in our project. We already told you that Elisenda Camps from RAC1 interviewed Pierre, but we also appeared in the Diario Sport (the most important daily on Sports) on Saturday, 17 December, and in Diari de Tarragona on 18 December (you can read here the original article in Catalan: http://bit.ly/2ja0wsO).
One thing led to the other: the social platform “Salvem lo Montsià” (“Save the Montsia”) knew about us on the media and came to meet us in Godall. The platform is a citizen initiative who want to defend, recover and preserve the social, cultural, and economic life of our beloved millenary Olive Trees. Manel Mas, one of the representatives, met Alfredo on December in Godall and decided to do together some communication actions.
That´s why we share here some Youtube videos with activities of “Salvem lo Montsià”:
- A precious video on our shire and the way we like it (4 minutes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RQWTr6EvxM
- A TV report about a bicycle outing in Ulldecona TV (local broadcast) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymREX8Hd1xs
- A report in the “Latituds” TV program, from the Catalan Television (TV3) http://www.ccma.cat/tv3/alacarta/latituds/resiliencia-al-senia/video/5621578/
We can only recommend to follow their activities as their goal is the same as ours: helping the Montsià area going on.
Next, and without any apparent connection, in that days a good friend of ours, journalist based in Paris sent us an article published at the popular Belgian weekly “Le Vif”. There they explain the many current risks for the Spanish millenary olive trees. We also told you about it some weeks ago when we commented the movie “El Olivo”. You can read the article (in French) from Le Vif here: http://bit.ly/2j0G3eH and our original text here: http://bit.ly/2kpcikb
But, wait! That’s not all. By the time we were writing this post on serendipity, the CNN released an interesting report on why the Taula del Senia millenary olive trees (that is: our olive trees), are producing Spain’s “freshest” and “newest” flavour. It is not us that we say it, it is CNN’s! Our olive oil is best. See the report here: http://cnn.it/2j0bHt5
As you can see, 2017 has begun with a serendipity. Without looking for it (however embracing it) we found new friends and unexpected echo in Media. Many thanks!
Alfredo & Pierre
