Ralda&Friends, candidate to the PITA2017 Awards on Food Innovation
We are very pleased to share with you that we have been accepted as finalists to one of the most important Prizes in Food Innovation in Catalonia. Last 5 October we went to Barcelona to present our project to a jury composed by senior officials from the Department of Agriculture of the Catalan Government.
At the beginning of 2017, in the last Oil and Asparagus Fair in Godall, we were visited by representatives of the Government. They encouraged us to bid to the annual edition of the PITA Prizes (PITA meaning: “Prizes in Innovation and Food Technology”). The prizes are aimed to acknowledge those companies and industries that have developed new products, processes or management systems to improve the activities in the agricultural sector.
As you know, Ralda&Friends is an innovative international olive-tree crowdfunding, based upon Internet and social media, so we believed it was worthy to present ourselves to the bid last August.
Well, by the end of September we were selected and invited to show off our project to a senior committee at the headquarters of the Agriculture Department in Barcelona. Now we are waiting for the resolution, expected to be announced in Girona, by mid-November.
The PITA prizes were born in 2001 in order to promote technological innovation in Catalan agriculture, by acknowledging agro-companies using new systems to gain competitivity and sustainability. The prizes have three categories: company, industry and young entrepreneur.
Sadly enough, nor Pierre neither Alfredo were accepted to bid to the “young entrepreneur” category, so we decided to bid to the “company”. At least, we are still young at heart.
